One week of October walks is in the books! Thanks to Elisabeth for hosting this session of the CBWC.
To keep myself accountable, I’ve been trying to take some photos while I walk.
October 1:
This was the first walk of the month, and I got to walk with my friend and writing partner K. We walked 2.85 miles (4.6 km) in 53 minutes, then headed to K’s house for a writing session.
October 2:
I very nearly missed my walk on Thursday. Carla was off from school, so we ran errands and then went to my parents’ house where I learned how to change the oil in my car. But I managed to get in a quick 1.1 mile (1.8 km) walk just as the sun was setting.

October 3:
After a strength training workout in my basement, I figured I was already sweaty, why not take a walk? It wasn’t long – 1.9 miles (3.01 km) – but it counts!

October 4:
Saturday’s effort was a walk-and-talk with my childhood bestie. I did 3.56 miles (5.7 km) as we chatted.
October 5:
Well, this was my first day of skipping a walk. I started the day with a very challenging full-body strength workout. We went to brunch with my family, then did a bunch of outdoor chores. And since I’d already showered and put on makeup and straightened my hair, I decided that I’d adhered to the spirit of Elisabeth’s collective (daily movement) even if I didn’t get a walk in.

October 6:
Sigh. Another day, another missed walk. I will not let this become a pattern. Did I do any other sort of movement today, aside from playing with the cat? No, I did not. But I did make pumpkin cream cheese muffins.
October 7:
Our fall weather has finally arrived! It rained, off and on, all day. I headed out for a walk around eleven, during a break in the rain. It was a good thing I took my raincoat, because the break did not last and I got completely drenched. No matter! It was warm and the rain was pleasant, so I walked for 3.7 miles (5.9 km) and dilly dallied for an hour and twenty minutes, taking pictures and writing haiku.

What was your favorite walk of the recent past? I’d probably choose the first walk of the month, because I got to walk and gab with a friend. But the rainy day walk was pretty great, too.

That’s a great week of walking! If a 1.9 mile walk is short, then I’m a short distance walker.
Shoutout to Leo and Project Swole! Doggo will not go down our basement stairs, so our gym is dog free.
My favorite walk of recent past was my hike with Elisabeth at Cape Split.
I walk every day, almost an hour most days. Once I got in the habit I found I want to do it and get antsy if I can’t. But I don’t get much exercise outside that. I used to swim once a week, but now it seems like so much trouble to get to the pool, swim, shower, and get back. I can’t bring myself to do it.
Love the walks, love the pictures, and am currently drooling just thinking about those muffins. I am ALL about the pumpkin and spices this time of year. Add cream cheese and *swoon*!
Well, this makes me feel better! I was totally committed to not missing a day, but ended up not walking yesterday. Like you, I did strength training so decided to count it- sort of- but my real goal this month was to walk (or run) every day. Well, we can get right back on track! As you did.
Your walking photos are beautiful! Mine are really boring, as a lot of mine occur in the dark.
The pumpkin muffins look delicious! I’ve been trying to walk every day although if I skip one, I don’t beat myself up. I used to be obsessive and don’t want to go back to those times.
That’s funny, they said here that our leaves started turning early because of the heat and lack of rain. I can never remember what it is that prompts them to turn.
It poured here yesterday, and I was home cleaning so it was nice. Less nice was the drenched library book I got back from a sixth grade boy today but he said he had to walk home in the rain, so fair enough I guess.
Those pumpkin muffins look amazing and I accidentally overbought lactose free cream cheese yesterday so whoo-hoo – did you post the recipe? I’ll text you if not? lol
I went for two walks with people last week and that is super unusual for me and it was so much fun! One was my co-worker who is going through some stuff right now and it was fun for both of us to just leave our offices for a bit. Another walk was with my husband and his sister and we just chatted for quite some time as we walked! I like having people with me, it turns out!
I’ve been walking (about 2 miles) every morning; but as I told Elisabeth – I’ve been going so early it’s usually still dark so it’s hard to get pictures. 🙁
We kicked off October with a visit to Monticello, so I walked all the steps between roaming the garden & grounds and the full house tour. That was pretty epic.
But my favorite is being back home again, and our daily walks <3
The sun filtering through the trees is the best – so pretty. Your photos are fantastic. My fav walk in recent times was the run I took on Sunday on Notre Dame’s campus. So so pretty. I’ve walked around the lake there with Mini and it’s always so great.
Cat hair is the ultimate fashion accessory! I think I remember Elisabeth saying that any form of exercise counts in the CBWC. Probably even plays with the cat counts too!
I failed to mention in your other post about you learning how to change the oil in your car. THIS IS MOMENTOUS. Congrats, and I do hope you can recall this skill the next time your oil needs to be changed.
Once my hair has been washed, blown/straightened, there will be no exercise.
Beautiful walking views!
