Dinners This Week

We are having unseasonable warmth. Like, shorts and tank tops weather. Yesterday, Carla and I raked the yard and she was wearing shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops. It was very odd indeed to see her leaping into our leaf pile without cozy fall clothing on.

I am NOT complaining, but the lingering summer weather makes my craving for fall food – soups and stews and chili – feel a bit unnatural. Well. The heart wants what it wants. Let’s see if I can force myself to enjoy some still-summery-ish meals instead.

Dinners for the Week of October 12-18

  • Grilled Pork Chops with Asparagus
  • Tacos
  • Takeout

What’s on your menu plan for the week, Internet?

  1. It was warm in Chicago all last week, and I loved it. I am just starting to realize thst chili season is upon us. This week we have leftover spaghetti and meatballs from last week because I made 6 lbs. Going to get a rotisserie chicken from Costco one day. The rest is uncertain.

  2. We’re having Shake and Bake pork chops with buttered noodles and braised red cabbage tonight, so fully in Autumn mode, even though it’s been pretty nice out for the past few days. Also have plans for Zuppa Toscana, and probably BLTs one day this week.

  3. We are headed to the mountains for a little getaway, so we have things like pizza and hotdogs on our meal plan this week. I’m looking forward to the cooler temps!

  4. We had tacos, too, and I made a heckuva lot of cilantro-lime rice to go with them. I’m not mad about it, been enjoying it for lunches all week! 🙂 Last night I tried a stove-top garlic-lemon chicken breast recipe on a whim, and they turned out pretty good… tonight is takeout night, just because.
