Dinners This Week

We have not yet decorated our tree and this – plus a massive FAIL on an attempt to make matcha truffles– is making me hyperventilate a little bit. Of course there is also a MOUNTAIN of laundry to climb fold and there is cleaning to do in preparation for my parents’ arrival and I have not wrapped a single gift to go under the tree (I HAVE wrapped and sent gifts to all family members and wrapped gifts for various instructors and mail carriers etc. so I am justified in feeling that I have ALREADY done quite a lot of wrapping, with nothing to show for it!) and the chocolates are not made and there are cookies to bake. Pant! Pant!

At least I have finalized ALL of my present and stocking-stuffer purchases!

I am CHEERFUL, please understand that. I love this time of year, and our house (aside from the poor naked tree) is decorated and I have been playing Christmas music nonstop and I am really excited to see my parents and spend two weeks with Carla. But I am still hyperventilating. You understand.

And let us not forget that my family still requires food. Daily. So let’s talk about what I shall feed them.

Dinners for the Week of December 17 – December 25

What are you eating this week? Are your holiday plans under control?

  1. We put up a real tree but it has no lights or ornaments yet AND no definite date set for when that will happen. Cards are my biggest undertaking. I send out around 175. Hoping to finiah that today. Two college boys come home this week. We will be at a family party on Coach’s side Saturday. I bought a ton of meat and dinner stuff this past weekend to prepare. I spent around $530 at the grocery store.

Meatloaf. Pizza casserole. Curly chose chicken with crumbs for her bday dinner Thursday. And hoping Coach will grill seasoned pork tenderloins this weekend. I still need to check out your stocking stuffer ideas! Enjoy your parents’visit and the break from school. I look forward to no babysitting after Thursday.

  2. No clue as to what we are eating but that would be a hard NO on having my holiday list under control. The boys are still holding back with their idea lists so I’m charging forward without a clue (dangerous). Haven’t really started the baking (Spritz cookies are mandatory; and sometimes a pain). Trying hard to keep up with the wrapping (failing). Oh well, it will get done…somehow. It always seems to eventually.

  3. We are having lots of veggie-heavy stuff – buddha bowls, veg enchiladas, stir fry – coming up to the BIG DAY. Christmas Eve the boys get steaks and then we go to my parents where they get turkey dinner.
