I have really and truly given up.
We ate three of the meals I planned for last week, and only then because one was fish, which we had to eat right away or toss, and because one of the others was tacos which I could make in my sleep.
I still have the ingredients for white chicken chili and shish kebabs (from a prior week’s plan) and salad, so presumably we could eat those if they wind up sounding palatable/worth the hassle. And, I suppose, if the ingredients survive that long.
What else HAVE we been eating? No idea. I mean, I know we ordered pizza one night. And then tonight we got spicy cauliflower from my favorite Lebanese restaurant. Otherwise… no clue.
We all still have to eat. Obviously, no one will starve. Or even skip a meal, frankly. But I cannot fathom thinking about PLANNING or MAKING a dinner. I just cannot.
Have you, too, given up on making meals? I just feel Done. How long will it last? WHO KNOWS.
I am not so much making dinners as much as…waving my hand at the kitchen and telling people to get themselves something to eat. Whatever. We are obviously surviving on that so far.
Oh hon – I gave up all of that before I ever even started! I look at the meals you prepare and I am in awe. That said, I can easily imagine that you are done.
You know, you are allowed to just coast when you need to – hot dogs, mac and cheese, pizza, take out, whatever. Particularly now – give yourself permission to coast.
I FEEL YOU. Ugh. Why does everyone need so much sustenance? So the kids went back to school yesterday and I thought it would be a nice, mom thing to do to bake muffins so when they came home, muffins. Yay. Nice. That was yesterday. This morning I get up – and it’s 4:45 am right now, Suzanne – and THERE ARE ZERO MUFFINS LEFT YOU PEOPLE ARE PIGS.
God. Today is grocery day, again, again it’s grocery day, what even. Thank god the snow is melting and we are getting into barbeque season so I can pass off at least some dinner things at least one or two days a week.
Pretty much done, yes. It’s our very last week of school, too, which makes it even MORE difficult to want to cook. Hot dogs on the menu tonight.
I made so many meals last week that we have been eating leftovers all week. My people are not happy about it but the food is still good, so quit complaining- is my angle.
I realized LATE last night that I will need to create a meal tonight. Then I remembered that Coach will be home . . . and I had an epiphany. He can grill. I have felt overworked and under appreciated lately, so coach grilling is the answer here. Good luck to you.
Noah’s out of town and Saturday is his cooking night so I thought I might not be up for an extra meal on top of my usual days, so I just planned frozen (fake) fish and frozen corn. When the day came I was up to boiling some new potatoes and serving them with butter and chives from the garden. It was the simplest meal of the week and Beth said it’s nice to have a retro meal like that sometimes.. Oh, I forgot to mention I melted American cheese on the “fish.”
I am literally eating cheese and crackers and grapes on the couch and refused to even bring a plate into the living room.
The fridge needs to be completely emptied by June 2nd and it is uh, decidedly Not Close To Empty right now. So weird meals for the next three days it is…
